This site is dedicated to all things "Fodstad". If you are a "Fodstad", or are married to a "Fodstad", or your maiden name was "Fodstad", you are entitled to a page on this site! A little Fodstad background ...: Most of the Fodstads in North America can trace their roots to one of the several "Fodstad Farms" outside of Østre Toten, Oppland, Norway. A "farm" in this context is more like a village than the modern concept of a family or corporation owned parcel of land used to grow fruit, vegetables, and livestock. Many people living on the "farm" had no surname or family name, so upon leaving the "farm" they adopted the name of the "farm" as their new surname. So many "Fodstads" are not really related by blood. They just have ancestors who happened to live in the same village or in one nearby.
